As the name implies, it's a unique way to manage content, unlike any other I've tried, and I've tried no less than 25!

After perusing opensourcecms.com and testing about 90% of what was available, I happened to fall upon Etomite (Phase at the time). I must say, it fit my needs exactly. Now that .6 has been released, I can truly say this upgrade has set Etomite far apart from any of the competitors.

Etomite is by far the easiest to setup, configure, and maintain, of any CMS. It may not have the user support of phpNuke, Drupal, and others right now, but I think Etomite will one day gain respect across the Globe as a worthwile alternative, while maintaining it's current posture as a CMS based on content, rather than community.

If a community based system is what you're after, then there are dozens to choose from. If adding content to your site quickly is a priority, then by all means give Etomite a try.

What you see here for the most part is the "stock" template supplied. I chose to use it for several reasons. One because it was done already, and two, because I happen to like it. I changed a few things like the logo and installed the "Powered by" logo in favor of the text link pinned at the very bottom of the screen. I'm currently working on a new template which looks an awful lot like this with a few minor adjustments.

Reasons to use Etomite:

Easy to navigate, both Manager panel and the site itself.
Easy to customize by utilizing Chunks and Snippets.
Based emphasis is based content. (the way it should be)
WYSIWYG content editing.
...and about 1000 other reasons you'll discover after trying it yourself!

As I begin this new era, I assure you that Etomite will be a mainstay on Tweak.us. I am that convinced that it will fill my needs for some time to come.

I'd like to take this time to thank Alex, the author of Etomite, for his hard work and dedication to the Etomite Project. If it weren't for him, I'd still be working up HTML on FrontPage! ;)
