Getting the Most From The Battle Recorder
You can use the Battlefield Demo Recorder in Single Player mode and it works much like it does downloading from multi-player servers. The exception is the file is stored on your system, but not in it's normal location. You'll have to manually move it to the normal location to view. It's in your PROGRAM FILES==>EA GAMES==>BATTLEFIELD 2==>MODS/BF2/DEMOS.
Move the file to My Documents==> Battlefield 2==>Profiles==>Default*==>demos
* or whatever profile you use.
In the game console, type demo.recorddemo insert your filename here
And to stop, demo.stoprecording
This also works if you create a local server and load any map or size. Of course you'll be playing with yourself.
EA did a decent job with the bots this time around. They lay mines, C4, sneak up from behind and nail you with the paddles!
Some useful keys: 1 = Pause playback 2 = Playback at normal speed 3 = Playback at 5% speed 4 = Playback at 25% speed 5 = Playback at 50% speed 6 = Playback at normal speed 7 = Playback at 150% speed 8 = Playback at 300% speed
- The SPACE bar toggles between players.
- Q Opens the playback rose.
- Mouse wheel zooms
- Right Mouse Button toggles between freecam and player
- W=forward, A=left, S=back, and D=right.
The best way to make any captures on the recorder playback is through the use of Fraps. Forget screwing around with anything else, unless of course you have 12 hours to screw around with a 20 meg recorder file. Even then, nothing is guaranteed.
Quality Captures With Battlelauncher I have found that using the utility Battlelauncher provides you with the easiest and most professional way to make movies using your demo files.

BattleLauncher uses XML files for translations, it can easily be converted to your native language with basic XML knowledge. Its interface is in English by default.
