Tips to Improve Your BF2 Experience
To rid yourself of the annoying intro movies and advertisements (I think we paid enough for the game)
From Program Files=>EA GAMES=>Battlefield 2=>mods=>bf2=>Movies, remove everything except menu.bik and menu_loggedin.bik
A safe way would be to simply cut and paste those files into a folder on your desktop until you're convinced it works flawlessly. Only then delete them. Who knows? Maybe someday in the future EA may set a script on their account manager to check if those files exist, and not allow you to log in.
Patching BF2
Everytime EA decides to patch BF2, they end up breaking something. It's been like this since the game was released. ( see here) Well, there's a way to back up everything so you can revert to your previous Battlefield setup without having to reinstall from scratch.
It's simple, I promise! Download the newest patch but don't install just yet! Navigate to Program Files-->EA GAMES and right-click the folder Battlefield 2 and just below it on a blank spot in the pane, right-click and choose Paste. This will create a folder called Copy of Battlefield 2. In that folder, right-click bf2.exe and choose Create Shortcut from the context menu. Take that shortcut and place it on your desktop, or anywhere you please, and rename it anything you'd like.
Now apply the downloaded patch. Only the original Battlefield 2 is patched, the copy remains at the previous version. Now when EA screws up, you can revert to the unpatched version.
